Meditation Heights is a new non-profit in Jersey City Heights. We create quiet spaces to practice all lineages of silent meditation. We also offer intro classes for Insight Meditation and host guest speakers to learn about a variety of meditation options so that you can find what works best for you.
We look forward to meeting you!
Meet your neighbors, learn the benefits, postures, and methods used to practice different meditations in a casual café atmosphere.
Open-to-all and free thanks to Galeria Café’s generosity. You can say “thank you” by treating yourself and others to a drink/snack as a donation to the space and/or writing a considered review online.
Walk-ins welcomed, RSVPs appreciated.
Participating in a sangha (group) can help support your individual practice—which is why we are here.
Please note, this is not a guided meditation.

I highly recommend IMC as a wonderful community (online) and a treasured resource for Theravada Buddhist teachings.

New York Insight is an urban center for the practice of mindful awareness, called Insight or Vipassana meditation. NYI programs include talks, weekly sittings and courses as well as daylong and weekend retreats and workshops for the integration of meditation teachings into daily life. NYI strives to be a center that reflects the vivid diversity of the city in which we live. Our center is a place where everyone of different ages, nationalities, cultures, languages, ethnicities, sexual orientation, and spiritual backgrounds is welcome to begin or deepen meditation practice based on the teachings of the Buddha.
What we practice at NYI derives directly from different Asian Theravada lineages of practice including those of Mahasi Sayadaw, Ajahn Chah, Anagarika Munindra, Dipa Ma and others.

Newark Center for Meditative Culture (NCMC) is a diverse urban meditation community serving the Greater Newark Area in New Jersey and beyond. We served as a community initiative starting in 2012 until we then formed a non-profit organization in 2017. Our programs are based on secular and spiritual teachings from multiple wisdom traditions, and include meditation & mindfulness classes, daylong retreats, book study, sitting groups, training & wellness courses, and workshops. NCMC is a volunteer-run organization with a strong commitment to openness and inclusion.
Our mission is to make monastic teachings more accessible to the general public. Since our inception in 2016, we have invited Bhikkhus and Bhikkhunis from various Buddhist traditions to offer the gift of the Dhamma in urban centers. In 2019 we started Empty Cloud Monastery, a gender inclusive monastery, where everyone can practice and study the Buddha’s traditional teachings.
